     ABOUT ME

3_edited_edited_edited.jpg

As a military photographer in South Africa and having grown up and worked in Africa in the late 80’s, I developed a strong connection with the beauty of Africa, the struggles of poverty, wild life preservation, famine, civil war, corruption; and the effect these issues have on individuals and the continent.

As I have transitioned into videography and film making in the last three decades, I have become increasingly passionate about story-telling, and shifted my focus to other continents where I have worked on news and documentary series in Asia and the Middle and Far East in the last 20 years.

My main objective is to be honest and objective and to use the latest cinematography technologies to enhance my narrative illustration. I believe that I have evolved as a photographer and DP in the last 32 years in my rich career of working for some of the largest agencies and networks, and their style and high quality have shaped me and had a huge impact on what I am today.

I have had the privilege of working and living all over the globe and working on award winning projects. This includes Emmy awarded stories such as an Ngoro-Goro crater wildlife coverage for GMA and 4 Emmy Nominations the last few years: The War in Syria, The Fight for Mosul, the Migrant Crisis in Greece and Switzerland, and The Easter Bombings in Sri-Lanka.

In addition, I won the CNN Africa photo journalist of the year award in 1996 and the South African Photojournalist award in 1995.

Aired work: ABC News, APTN; CNN, BBC, Aljazeera CBS, NatGeo/ABC projects and History Chanel/ABC projects and EURO news.

Published work; Sunday Times, Newsweek, Time magazine, FT and Sports Illustrated.
